To improve performance, Resolution can be reduced but it will have a considerable impact on the visual quality. It is advisable to set the resolution to the native screen resolution of the monitor. This setting is optimal for smooth running of the game, and is a better option compared to Windowed or Borderless Windowed. BTW, the Ti makes for a stunning Rift VR experience as well. My PC is amazing and I'm having a blast with it. I did built my PC to be as future proof as it can possibly be (7700k, Ti, 960 Evo, etc) but there still is always gonna be something better around the corner and I don't lose sleep because my GPU might possibly struggle on some new release game and only get 55 fps in 4k.
I've been 55-60 fps on Ultra in every game I've played and the card hasn't even flinched. Yeah I can agree that we probably are a generation away from the absolute perfect card for 4k 60 fps. Even with that though, I think we are still a generation away from a single card that can hit 60 without issue in all new games without dropping settings, and another generation or two away from cards that will be getting higher frame rates on newer 4K monitors with high refresh rates. This can definitely be remedied by dropping some settings that don't have much of a visual impact, but a pretty significant performance impact. We are already seeing games that when maxed out, cannot reach 60 fps at 4K. I think the 1080 ti is pretty serviceable for 4K 60 fps right now, but I don't think that will last long. Lesser CPUs might not get the same results. the ones that say "the single card solution for 4k is here." I'm speaking as someone who has a 1080 Ti and a 7700k. Don't take my word for it though (even though I am pulling 60 fps in 4k ultra on the above mentioned games) just read any number of online reviews on the card.
